LENIHAN LEADS ANCHORWOMEN AT
WESTERN NEW ENGLAND INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s cross country squad notched a 13th place finish at the Western New England University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen finished the 5K course with 313 points, while the University of New England took home first place (17 points) at the 22-team event.

 

Junior Briana Lenihan (Saunderstown, RI) led the way for RIC with a 30th place finish (242 runners) (20:56), while sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) notched a 55th place finish (21:38). Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) recorded an 81st place finish (22:11) and senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) clocked in at (22:38), which was good for 98th place finish.

Senior Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) placed 148th (24:10), while freshman Wennely Figueroa (Providence, RI) finished in 157th (24:26).

 

Junior Lissa Almanzar (Providence, RI) posted a 174th place finish (24:54), while freshman Sarah Basler (East Greenwich, RI) clocked in at (25:02), good for 178th place. Junior Tess Rhoat (Wakefield, RI) notched a 202nd place finish (26:20), while sophomore Margaret Buckley (Norwich, CT) rounded out the Anchorwomen contingent, placing 231st overall (30:38).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Little East Conference Championship, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 29 (12:00 p.m.).
