RIC WRAPS UP DAY ONE AT 2016 GNAC
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THIRD PLACE

Gorham, Maine--The Rhode Island College men’s golf team is currently in third place (305) at the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club after first round action on Saturday. 

 

Host Southern Maine is in first place (300) at the par 71 course that measures 6,555 yards.  RIC has won the last five GNAC Championships and sits just five strokes off the lead.

 

RIC junior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) (76), senior Steve Letterle (Cranston, RI) (76) and senior John Roderick (Hope, RI) (76) are all currently in a tie for eighth place after the first 18 holes of competition. Junior Drew Quirk (Longmeadow, MA) is tied for 11th (77), while sophomore Tom Sheran (Marston Mills, MA) rounds out the Anchormen golfers and sits in 38th place (87).

 The Anchormen will tee off in the final round of the GNAC Championships on Sunday, Oct. 16 (9:00 a.m.). RIC will be going for its sixth straight GNAC Championship which carries an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
