LENIHAN LEADS RIC WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TO SIXTH PLACE AT LITTLE EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

North Dartmouth, Mass.-Junior Briana Lenihan (Saunderstown, RI) placed 14th (85 runners) with a time of 19:41.39 to lead the Rhode Island College women’s cross country team to a sixth place (seven teams) finish at the 2016 Little East Conference Championship, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.

 

RIC totaled a team score of 157.0, while Keene State won the title with a score of 35.0.

 

Sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) notched a 27th place finish (20:13.63). Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) registered a 45th place finish (21:30.51), while senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) clocked in at (21:49.56), which was good for a 52nd place finish. Freshman Analise England (Smithfield, RI), running her first meet of the season, was right behind Lomas in 53rd place (21:51.25).

Senior Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) placed 59th (22:31.30), while junior Lissa Almanzar (Providence, RI) posted a 62nd place finish (22:46.97). Freshman Wennely Figueroa (Providence, RI) finished in 64th (22:55.71) and sophomore Veronica Northup (Hope, RI) placing 68th (23:16.39).

 

Junior Tess Rhoat (Wakefield, RI) took home a 74th place finish (24:01.90) and freshman Sarah Basler (East Greenwich, RI) followed right behind her in 75th place (24:33.84). Sophomore Margaret Buckley (Norwich, CT) rounded out the Anchorwomen runners at the LEC Championship, placing 84th (27:43.72).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to the 2016 N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday, Nov. 12 (Noon).
