RIC WRAPS UP 2016 CAMPAIGN WITH SWEEP OF FRAMINGHAM STATE & WORCESTER STATE

Worcester, Mass.--The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team wrapped up the 2016 campaign with a sweep of Framingham State and Worcester State in a non-conference tri-match, hosted by Worcester State at Lancer Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

 

RIC (12-13) opened the day with a thrilling, 3-2 (25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-25, 15-6), win against Framingham State (19-11). The Anchorwomen then finished the sweep with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-15) sweep over host Worcester State.

 

In the opening match against Framingham State, RIC was led by junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) with 20 kills and six digs, while sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) notched a double-double with 18 kills and 14 digs. Junior middle blocker Sierra Smith (Longmont, CO) notched 13 kills, a match-high four blocks and two digs, while junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) had 48 assists. Senior libero Megan Armburg (Swamsea, MA) notched a match-high 29 digs.

Senior right side hitter Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, MA) paced Framingham State with a match-high 22 kills and 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, RI) narrowly missed a double-double with 11 kills and nine digs. Sophomore setter Lauren Salisbury (Cranston, RI) tallied 29 assists and eight digs, while junior defensive specialist Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, MA) notched a team-best 26 digs in the setback.

 

In the win over the Lancers, Lambrese once again paced RIC with a double-double, recording 18 kills and 13 digs, while freshman right side hitter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) had 10 kills, six assists and three digs in the win. White recorded a double-double with 28 assists and 11 digs, while Armburg notched 11 digs. Worcester State was led by sophomore outside hitter Emily Carens (Northborough, MA) with 10 kills and 14 assists, while sophomore setter Alexandra Nolan (Melrose, MA) had 22 assists and four digs.
