Springfield, Mass.-The Rhode Island College menís tennis team fell at Springfield, 9-0, in a non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon.


RIC (0-2) dropped all three doubles matches, including an 8-1 loss by freshman William Tavares (Kingston, RI) and junior Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) against Springfieldís (7-1) team of Cameron Grant (Babyon, NY) and Kyle Beynor (Prospect, CT) at the No. 1 spot. 


The Prideís team of Zack Keene (Feeding Hills, MA) and Chris Unger (Westfield, MA) posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 over the Anchormenís team of sophomore Chandler Scott (Ashaway, RI) and senior Cory Duquette (Warwick, RI)


Springfield's No. 3 team of Sean Quirk (Mashpee, MA) and Steven Ludtke (Agawam, MA) claimed the final doubles point after posting an 8-4 victory against RIC sophomores Matt Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) and Adam Esposito (Clinton, CT).


Unger picked up his second win of the day with a shutout (6-0, 6-0) win at the No. 3 spot against Tiberi, while Grant registered a (6-0, 6-3) victory at No. 1 over Tavares. Keen and Ludtke also had singles wins for the Pride to complete the sweep of matches for the afternoon.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Thomas for a non-conference contest on Sunday, March 26 (Noon).
