BRUCE & BRUNELLE EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST
CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman Jahnold Bruce (Newport, RI) and sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances at the American International College Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday, April 8.

 

Bruce was named the Little East Conference Menís Rookie Track Athlete of the Week. He finished 19th in the 100m (11.58) and 27th in the 200m (23.65). The Anchormen placed 12th (20 teams) with a team score of 22.0. Southern Connecticut won the meet with a score of 145.0.

 

Brunelle was named the Little East Conference Womenís Field Athlete of the Week. She finished first in the triple jump (10.97m), third in the long jump (4.94m) and seventh in the 100m hurdles (16.87). The Anchorwomen placed eighth (18 teams) with a team score of 28.0. Stonehill won the meet with a score of 167.83.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2017 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, April 15 (10 a.m.).
