CILLEY WINS RIC SPRING INVITATIONAL AS ANCHORMEN PLACE SECOND

Warwick, R.I.--The Rhode Island College men’s golf team took home a second place finish at the 2017 RIC Spring Invitational played at Valley Country Club on Friday morning. The RIC “A” team finished with a team score of (302) for the 10-team tournament at the Par 72 course that measures 6,458 yards. Western New England took home the team title with a score of (300). The Anchormen’s “B” team finished with a team score of (342) which was good for a 10th place finish.

 

For the “A” team, RIC junior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) notched a first place finish and took home medalist honors (71). Freshman Nathan Peterson (Conway, MA) was tied for fourth with a (74), while senior John Roderick (Hope, RI) posted a tie for 10th place finish (77).

 

Senior Steven Letterle (Cranston, RI) carded an 80, which was good for 19th place. Sophomore Tom Sheran (Marston Mills, MA)  tied for 43rd place with a 91.

Competing as the “B” team, RIC junior Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) was tied for 14th (78), while freshman Connor Fillmore (Killingly, CT) finished tied for 24th (82).

 

RIC sophomore Mike Caparco (Johnston, RI) carded an 83, which was good for a tie for 28th place. Junior Greg North (Jamestown, RI) rounded out the Anchormen golfers, shooting a 99, which was good for 49th place.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Western New England on Thursday, April 20.
