WAGNAC & BRUNELLE EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST
CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) was been named the Little East Conference Menís Field Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) was honored as the LEC Womenís Field Athlete of the Week, for their respective performances at Connecticut Collegeís Silfen Invitational on Saturday, April 15.

 

 

 Freshman Jephte Wagnac

 

Wagnac helped RIC to a third place finish at the 17-team event. He placed third in the triple jump (13.46m) and 12th in the long jump (5.81m). Wagnac ran the opening leg of the 4x400m relay team that placed third (3:30.11) and ran the third leg of the second place 4x100m relay team (44.75). Wagnac also finished second in the 400m hurdles (54.90).

 

 

 Sophomore Melanie Brunelle

 

Brunelle helped RIC to a sixth place finish at the 17-team event. She won the triple jump (11.22m), finished second in the high jump (1.58m), took third in the long jump (5.54m) and finished seventh in the 100m hurdles (16.87). She also finished third in the 100m hurdles (15.70) and ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay team that posted a second place finish (51.40).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at MITís Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, April 22.
