BRUNELLE WINS TRIPLE JUMP AND PLACES SECOND
IN THE LONG JUMP AT SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL

Providence, R.I.--Sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) won the triple jump (11.47m) and placed second in the long jump (5.26m) as the Rhode Island College women’s track & field team competed at the 2017 Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

Brunelle also placed first as a member of the 4x100m relay (49.89). 

 

Junior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) placed second in the hammer (50.63m) and 15th in the discus (31.34m).

 

Sophomore Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) placed third in the 200m (26.55) fourth in the 100m (12.90). She also placed first as a member of the 4x100m relay (49.89). 

 

Sophomore Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) placed third in the 400m (1:00.66). She also placed first as a member of the 4x100m relay (49.89). 

 

Freshman Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) finished fourth in the hammer (45.17m).

 

Freshman Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI) placed seventh in the 200m (27.51). She also placed first as a member of the 4x100m relay (49.89). 

 

Sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) placed fifth in the 800m (2:24.24).

 

Freshman Chevell Burgess (Providence, RI) placed seventh in the 100m hurdles (16.87).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2017 N.E. Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday, April 29.
