UMD posted a 2-0 win in the opener.

In the opener, UMass Dartmouth got on the board on the bottom of the second when McSweeney scored on an RBI groundout from senior second baseman Marissa Spinuzzi (Fair Lawn, NJ) for the 1-0 advantage. The Corsairs added an insurance run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from senior catcher Gracie Trudeau (Dartmouth, MA). That would be all the offense UMD would need as junior Hannah Smith (Attleboro, MA) earned the win (10-7), pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts, to earn the victory. Freshman Hailey Levesque (Westport, MA) (1-5) suffered the loss (1-5) in the circle for RIC, going six innings, allowing two runs on five hits.

In the nightcap, RIC sophomore pitcher Erica Fleming (Sagamore Beach, MA) scattered nine hits to go along with two strikeouts over seven scoreless innings to record the complete game victory (3-4).

The Anchorwomen broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from Burgess. Duvall then provided RIC with a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth as her two-run bomb propelled the team to the shutout victory. Burgess went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while sophomore third baseman Cristin Chiaverini (Pawtucket, RI) was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Smith took the loss (10-8)  in the pitching circle for UMD, allowing three runs on four hits in three innings of work.

In upcoming action, RIC wraps up the 2017 regular season at Plymouth State with a Little East Conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 29 (1 p.m.).
