ANCHORMEN WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON
WITH, 6-3, WIN OVER SOUTHERN MAINE

Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College downed Southern Maine, 6-3, in a Little East Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts.

 

 RIC (7-7, 4-2 LEC) sophomores Alan Esposito (Clinton, CT) and Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) combined for a win at No. 3 doubles, and won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively.

 

 Southern Maine (1-8, 1-4 LEC) senior Kyle Curley (Gorham, ME) and junior Samuel Holland (Falmouth, ME) defeated RIC freshman William Tavares (Kingston, RI) and junior Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI), 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.

RIC sophomore Chandler Scott (Ashaway, RI) and senior captain Cory Duquette (Warwick, RI) defeated freshman Andy MacEachern (Nashua, NH) and junior Chase Orava (Sagamore Beach, MA), 8-4 at No. 2 singles.

 

Sophomore Matt Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) and freshman Jonathon Glendinning (Exeter, RI) defeated Kyle Morin and Kevin Dowling, 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

 

USM won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Curley defeated Tavares (6-1, 6-1) and Holland downed Scott (6-0, 6-1).

 

The hosts swept the remaining singles bouts, as Tiberi beat MacEachern (6-3, 6-3) at No. 3 singles. Gambardella defeated Orava (6-2, 6-1) at No. 4 singles. Esposito defeated Morin (6-0, 6-4) at No. 5 singles and Glendinning downed Dowling (6-4, 6-1) at No. 6 singles.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will see action in the 2017 Little East Conference Men's Tournament, which starts next week.
