CABRAL & WAGNAC WIN LITTLE EAST TITLES
AS MEN'S TRACK & FIELD COMPETES
AT N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Westfield, Mass.-Senior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) and freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) each won Little East titles as the men's track & field team competed at the 2017 New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon.

 

 RIC finished fourth (seven teams) in the Little East with a team score of 107.0. Southern Maine took home the title with a score of 185.0.

 

 

Senior Colin Cabral

 

Cabral earned N.E. Alliance honors (and was the Little East champion) in the shot with a fourth place finish (14.16m). He also placed seventh in the hammer (49.96m), ninth in the javelin (47.92) and 10th in the discus (37.79m).

 

 

Freshman Jephte Wagnac

 

Wagnac earned N.E. Alliance honors (and was the Little East champion) in the 400m hurdles with a first place finish (53.06). He also placed ninth in the triple jump (12.89m). His effort in the 400m hurdles was a new Alliance and Little East record for the outdoor championships.

 

Junior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events, placing fourth in the hammer (51.53m) and fifth in the discus (40.55m).

 

Junior Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors with a sixth place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.78). He also placed 18th in the 400m hurdles (1:02.14).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2017 New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Williams on Saturday, May 6.
