BARRETTE & WAGNAC EARN WEEKLY
LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) and freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) were recognized for their respective performances at N.E. Alliance Championships on Saturday, April 29.

 

Barrette was named the Little East Conference Womenís Field Athlete of the Week. She earned N.E. Alliance honors (and was the Little East champion) in two events. She finished first in the hammer (52.53) with a new program record and was first in the discus (33.10m). She also placed 11th in the shot (10.23m). Her effort in the hammer was also a new Little East record for the outdoor championships.

Wagnac was named the Little East Conference Menís Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. Wagnac earned N.E. Alliance honors (and was the Little East champion) in the 400m hurdles with a first place finish (53.06). He also placed ninth in the triple jump (12.89m). His effort in the 400m hurdles was a new Alliance and Little East record for the outdoor championships.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2017 New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Williams on Saturday, May 6.
