Dartmouth, Mass.óSenior captain Cory Duquette (Warwick, RI) wrapped up his career in a Rhode Island College menís tennis uniform as the third-seeded Anchormen dropped a 5-1 decision at second seeded UMass Dartmouth in the semifinals of the 2017 Little East Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon.


UMass Dartmouth (8-10) took two of the three doubles matches to jump out to a 2-1 advantage.


The lone win for RIC (8-8) in doubles play came at the No. 2 spot where sophomore Chandler Scott (Ashaway, RI) and Duquette posted an 8-5 win over the UMD team of sophomore Anthony Joseph (Fairhaven, MA) and junior Justin Torres (Dighton, MA).

At No. 1 doubles, UMass Dartmouth senior Corey Rafter (Franklin, MA) and junior Patrick Pacheco (Fall River, MA) posted an 8-3 win over RIC freshman William Tavares (Kingston, RI) and junior Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI).


At the third doubles spot, UMD senior Summer Forest-Bulley (Turners Falls, MA) and junior Zach Pavao (Somerset, MA) notched an 8-6 victory against RIC sophomores Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) and Alan Esposito (Clinton, CT).


In singles action, Rafter had a (6-2, 6-3) win over Tavares at No. 1 with Joseph taking a (6-3, 6-0) victory against Scott at No. 2. The Corsairs picked up the third point they needed in singles play with a (6-2, 6-2) win by Pacheco against Tiberi at No. 3.
