EMMA SIMMONS NAMED SECOND TEAM
ALL-LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE IN SOFTBALL

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College sophomore catcher Emma Simmons (Saunderstown, RI) was named Second Team All-Little East Conference for her performance in softball during the 2017 season.

 

Simmons played in 27 games, starting all of them. She batted .355 (27-for-76) with 22 runs scored, 27 hits, two doubles, two triples, one home run, 14 RBI and 11 stolen bases. She owned a .474 slugging percentage, a.425 on-base percentage and a .988 fielding percentage.

 

 

 

Simmons ranked in among the conference leaders in several categories, including third in stolen bases, seventh in triples, ninth in on base percentage, 12th in batting average and 16th in slugging percentage. She also led the team in runs scored and was third in RBI on the season. Simmons was also a standout behind the plate for the Anchorwomen, ranking 16th in fielding percentage and third in runners caught stealing (7).

 

Head Coach Janice DiNobile’s Anchorwomen finished the season with an 8-10 record and an 8-11 (eighth place) mark in the Little East.
