JEPHTE WAGNAC QUALIFIES FOR NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 400M HURDLES

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) will compete in the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Div. III Menís Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, hosted by the University of Mount Union (Geneva, Ohio) at the SPIRE Institute on May 25-27. The top 20 individuals in each event in the nation qualify for the national championships.

 

Wagnac, the team MVP and Little East Rookie Field Athlete of the Year, earned All-New England, All-NEICAAA and N.E. Alliance honors, to go along with the Little East Championship in the 400m hurdles, during the outdoor season. Wagnac is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation in the 400m hurdles heading into the championships.

Wagnac was one of only two Div. III student-athletes to finish in the top eight in the 400m hurdles, placing fifth (53.99) at the N.E. Open Championships, hosted by Williams on May 12-13. He also placed fifth in the preliminaries of that event with a time of 53.10.

 

He earned All-New England honors with a second place finish in the 400m hurdles (53.69) at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Williams on May 5-6.

 

Wagnac earned N.E. Alliance honors (and was the Little East champion) in the 400m hurdles with a first place finish (53.06) at the Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on April 29. He also placed ninth in the triple jump (12.89m). His effort in the 400m hurdles was a new Alliance and Little East record for the outdoor championships.
