KYLE LAKE NAMED ASSISTANT WRESTLING COACH
AT RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College has named Kyle Lake as an assistant wrestling coach. Lake will assist Head Coach Jay Jones with all facets of the program, including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and meet coaching.

“I am very impressed with Kyle’s maturity, motivation and initiative,” Jones said. “He always put academics first and trained hard as a student-athlete. He’ll be an excellent example for the team.”

“I am excited to coach for my alma matter, a place that has opened up so many opportunities for me,” Lake said. “I hope to help bring Rhode Island College wrestling to success, as well as help guide our student-athletes down the path of becoming young professionals.”

The Toms River, New Jersey native finished his career at RIC with 23 victories, with six of them coming as pins. During his career for the Anchormen, he recorded 40 takedowns, 11 reversals, 31 escapes and nine near-falls.

As a senior in 2015-16, Lake had seven victories and was named to the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) All-Academic Team. He also notched 16 wins as a sophomore in 2013-14.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in medical imaging from Rhode Island College in 2016. Lake currently works as a medical imaging specialist at both Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Lake currently resides in Providence.
