MOORE AND GAUVIN EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST
CONFERENCE WOMENíS BASKETBALL AWARDS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College senior guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Player of the Week, while freshman guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) was tabbed the LEC Rookie of the Week, for their respective performances in a 2-1 week for the Anchorwomen.

 

Moore averaged 18.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest for the Anchorwomen. She started off the week with 17 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists in the teamís thrilling, 60-53, season-opening win over Salem State on Nov. 15.  Moore then helped the Anchorwomen to a third place finish at the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament, scoring 15 points with eight assists against Westfield State on Nov. 18 before posting a double-double with a team-best 24 points and 10 boards in a 62-52 win over Wentworth in the consolation game.

Gauvin averaged 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for the Anchorwomen. Gauvin scored 13 points with six rebounds in the overtime victory against Salem State on Nov. 15. She then narrowly missed a double-double with seven points and 10 rebounds against Westfield State at the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament.  For the week, she shot an impressive 50 percent (11-for-22) from the field.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Nov. 22 (5:30 p.m.).
