MELANIE BRUNELLE LEADS WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD AT UMASS BOSTON INVITATIONAL

Boston, Mass.-Sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) took home first place in the long jump (5.27m) and finished second finish in the 400m (59.60) to lead the Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field squad at the UMass Boston Invitational, hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

RIC junior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) captured first place in the weight throw (14.45m) and finished 20th in the shot (9.73m), while sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) finished in first place in the 1,000m (3:14.75).

Sophomore Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) posted a fifth place in the 60-yard dash (8.11), placed 16th in the 200m (27.69). Sophomore Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) posted a sixth place finish in the 400m (1:00.96).

 

Freshman Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) notched a seventh place in the 200m (27.06), with classmate Chevell Burgess (Providence, RI) finishing in 10th place in the 200m (27.33).

 

Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) finished sixth in the 500m (1:25.94), while senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) posted an 11th place finish in the 800m (2:41.01).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Northeastern Invitational on Saturday, Dec 10 (11 a.m.).
