BARRETTE PLACES FIFTH IN WEIGHT THROW
AT JAY CARISELLA INVITATIONAL

Roxbury, Mass.--The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field team competed at the 2016 Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Junior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) took fifth place in the weight throw (14.57m) and 11th in the shot (10.45m).

Sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) notched a pair of top-10 finishes for RIC, taking seventh in the high jump (11.60m) and sixth in the triple jump (11.11m).

 

Freshman Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI) posted a 14th place finish in the 200m (27.39) and was 18th in the 60m (8.35). Sophomore Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) posted a 12th place in the 400m (1:05.16) and was 15th in the 200m (27.42). Sophomore Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) recorded an 18th place finish in the 200m (27.63) and had a 23rd place finish in the 60m(8.44).

 

Freshman Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) notched a 19th place in the 200m (27.65) and also had a 19th place finish in the 60-yard dash (8.36) while fellow rookie Analise England (Smithfield, RI) was ninth in the 800m (2:35.75).

 

Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) finished 12th in the 800m (2:41.15), while senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) posted a fifth place finish in the 500m (1:28.97).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the U.S. Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 (10 a.m.).
