RIC FALLS, 45-3, TO JOHNSON & WALES

Providence, R.I.--The Rhode Island College wrestling team dropped a 45-3 decision against No. 3ranked intra-city rival Johnson & Wales at The Wildcat Center on Friday evening. The win was the third straight for JWU in “The Cup” rivalry and improves the Wildcats record to 13-5 in the all-time series.

 

The lone win for Rhode Island College (3-5) came at 285 lbs. with senior John Georges (Cranston, RI) posting a 3-2 overtime victory against junior Jonah Aurelio (East Providence, RI). Johnson & Wales (9-1) had four pins and three technical fall victories in the match.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to the 2017 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Championship, hosted by Johnson & Wales on Sunday, Jan. 22 (10 a.m.).
