HUSSON DEFEATS RIC, 103-67

Bangor, Maine--The Rhode Island College womenís swimming team fell to Husson, 103-67 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

 

Junior Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) led the way for RIC (0-5), taking home three first place finishes on the day. Curran placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:17.05), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.10) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:13.55). Curran also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.16) and swam the second leg of the teamís 200-yard medley relay (2:35.49), which tallied a second place finish.

Freshman Vanessa Dao (Revere, MA) recorded a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (7:26.02) and notched a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.07). She also registered a fourth place finish in the 100-yard individual medley (1:21.78) and swam the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:35.49), which notched a second place finish.

 

Freshman Jianna Hodge (North Providence, RI) notched a second place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke (57.21) and a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:28.14). Hodge swam the opening leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:35.49), which notched a second place finish.

 

Freshman Karen Ramirez (Providence, RI) registered a pair of second place finishes, taking second in both the 50-yard backstroke (1:01.19) and second in the 50-yard freestyle (48.75). Ramirez also took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:47.46) and swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:35.49), which notched a second place finish.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Western Connecticut on Saturday, January 21 (1 p.m.).
