WAGNAC LEADS MENíS TRACK TO SECOND PLACE FINISH AT COAST GUARD INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.--The Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team notched a second place finish at the United States Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational on Saturday. The Anchormen finished the 18-event meet with 83.0 points, while Coast Guard took home the team title with 164.0 points. Eastern Connecticut rounded out the field in third place with 79.0 points on the day.

 

Freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) captured first place in the triple jump (12.07m) and finished second in both the long jump (6.10m) and the 400m (53.33). Sophomore Destin Bibemi (Providence, RI) finished third in both the long jump (6.03m) and the triple jump (11.81m).

Junior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) posted a first place finish in the weight throw (16.27m) and fifth place in the shot (10.12m).

 

Junior Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) finished first in the 55m hurdles (8.23). Classmate Jonathan Carney (Bristol, RI) registered a third place finish in the 1,000m (3:06.57) and finished seventh in the 3,000m (10:07.87).

 

Freshman Levon Campbell (Newport, RI) posted a third place finish in the 55m (6.76) and was sixth in the 200m. The Anchormenís 4x200m relay team recorded a first place finish (1:34.67), while the 4x400m relay (3:41.28) recorded a third place finish.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to the Springfield Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21 (9 a.m.).
