SENIORS HONORED AS RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS OPENS SEASON

Providence, R.I.--The Rhode Island College women’s gymnastics team notched a fourth place finish at the 2017 RIC Quad Meet, held at The Murray Center on Sunday afternoon. The Anchorwomen finished with a team score of 176.375, while Brockport took home the team title with a score of 187.600. Ithaca finished in second place (183.200 points) and Springfield was third (183.500).

The meet was the final home event for seniors Amanda Newton (Bellingham, MA), Cherise Lee (Burlington, NJ), Jaclyn Hahn (Marion, MA) and Corrine Paul (North Easton, MA).

Sophomore Kyndel Yett (Carrollton, GA) led RIC, tying for fifth place on floor (9.325) and tying for ninth on vault (9.375). Sophomore Miranda Murphy (Lansdale, PA) registered a 14th-place finish on beam (9.225) and a 16th-place finish on bars (8.600). Sophomore Allie DiBiase (North Kingstown) finished tied for 10th on vault (9.300), placed 14th on beam (9.175), 15th on bars (8.825) and was second in the all-around (36.675).

 

Senior Jen Sklenar (Canfield, OH) led the way for Brockport, taking first on beam (9.675), tying for first on floor (9.400) and finishing second on vault (9.475). Sophomore Candis Kowalik (Warwick, RI) tied for first on floor (9.400), had a third place finish on vault (9.450) and posted a sixth place finish on beam (9.575).

 

Freshman Baylie Trammell (Littleton, CO) paced Ithaca, taking third on bars (9.475) and finishing tied for fourth on vault (9.450). Junior Kendra Balcerak (Lima, NY) notched a fifth place finish on beam (9.600) and was in eighth place on bars (9.175).

 

 

 Women's gymnastics alumni were recognized prior to the meet.

 

Sophomore Jess Clemens (South Setauket, NY) was the top performer for Springfield, taking first place on bars (9.600), fourth place on beam (9.600), ninth on vault (9.425) and was the meets top performer in the all-around (37.575). Sophomore Heather Gomes (Beverly, MA) finished tied for fourth on vault (9.450) and was third on beam (9.650).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will travel to Ithaca on Saturday, Jan. 21 (Noon).
