Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College’s Eric Blanchard, Assistant to the Athletic Director, was honored by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) with an athletic administrator award at the NCAA Convention held in Nashville on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The award recognizes leadership and is presented to a professional who has transitioned from coaching or other professional duties to athletic administration and who has seven or fewer year’s cumulative experience as a titled athletics administrator at the Div. III level.  The award also recognizes involvement and leadership roles on an institution campus or in a conference office.

Blanchard, a former student-athlete and SAAC member at RIC, has continued his passion for learning in the department moving up from a student-worker while an undergraduate, to an assistant baseball coach’s position to his current duties as assistant to the athletics director.

In addition, he also serves as a faculty member in the mathematics departments and previously served as a faculty member for a freshman orientation class. While moving up the ranks in the department and teaching, he also earned his graduate degree in sports administration. Blanchard assists in special projects for the department, facilities, SAAC advisor, facility rentals and staff scheduling, concessions, team travel, summer sports camps, equipment orders and a variety of other programs and planning that is needed on a case by case basis.
