MEN'S TRACK & FIELD FINISHES EIGHTH AT
N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Gorham, Maine--The Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team competed at the 2017 New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen finished eighth (11 teams) in the Alliance with 50.0 points. Southern Maine won the meet with a score of 144.50. RIC finished fifth (seven teams) in the Little East Conference with a score of 62.0.

 

RIC freshman Levon Campbell (Newport, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events. Campbell registered a third place finish in the 200m (22.76) and ran the opening leg of the first place 4x200m relay team (1:31.89). He also ran the opening leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished in second place (3:24.50).

 Freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) earned three N.E. Alliance honors. Wagnac finished fourth in the 400m (51.83), ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished in second place (3:24.50) and also finished in fifth place in the triple jump (13.02m).

 

Sophomore Destin Bibemi (Providence, RI) earned three N.E. Alliance honors, finishing third in the 400m (51.26), ran the second leg of the first place 4x200m relay team (1:31.89) and also ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished in second place (3:24.50).

 

Junior Matthew Charles (North Providence, RI) recorded a pair of N.E. Alliance honors with a fourth place finish in the 200m (22.97) and ran the third leg of the first place 4x200m relay team (1:31.89).

 

Senior Joel Ikuejamofo (Providence, RI) also picked up a pair of N.E. Alliance accolades after running the anchor leg of the 4x200m relay team (1:31.89) and the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay team that notched a second place (3:24.50) finish.

 

Junior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors with a  fifth place effort in the weight throw (16.61m).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will travel to MIT for the New England Div. III Championships on Friday and Saturday Feb. 17-18 (11 a.m.).
