JAY JONES BREAKS RIC'S ALL-TIME WINS RECORD AS ANCHORMEN SWEEP AT TRINITY TRI-MEET

Hartford, Conn.--Head Coach Jay Jones set the Rhode Island College wrestling program's career wins mark when the Anchormen defeated Bridgewater State, 30-18, in the first match of the afternoon at a New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) tri-match hosted by Trinity on Sunday afternoon. The Anchormen completed the sweep of the matches with a 27-19 win over host Bantams.

Now in his 18th season at the helm of the RIC wrestling program, Jones has posted a 224-163-1, surpassing the mark of 222-107-9 set by legendary RIC Athletic Hall of Famer Rusty Carlsten.

"I feel so blessed to have had the privilege to coach so many great athletes and great people," Jones said. "I feel like I always tried my best to carry out Rusty's family values and give our guys an experience that goes beyond the circle. I feel like there is so much more work to be done and will continue working hard at achieving some high goals that I have for the program."

"I would also like to thank the administration, the alumni, my family, and my great assistant coaches like Bob Smith, Chris Tribelli, Dave Paquette, Scott Baum, Brendan Casey and several others for their support. I hope we have made Rhode Island College proud and will continue to make every effort to accomplish more along the way."
