WOMEN'S SWIMMING ENDS SEASON
AT NEISDA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kingston, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s swimming team wrapped up the 2016-17 season with an appearance at the New England Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship, hosted by the University of Rhode Island over the weekend. The Anchorwomen finished tied for 20th place (21 teams) with 94 points, while Roger Williams University took home the team title with 1,452 points.

 

Senior Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI) finished 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (19:40.76) and 10th in the 400-yard IM (5:02.60). She also finished in 19th place in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle (5:45.08) and swam the lead leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:28.18) that finished in 21st place in the preliminaries.

 

Junior Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) earned an 11th place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke (33.10) and was 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.75). Curran placed 14th in the 100-yard IM (1:07.66) and swam the anchor leg of the 21st place 400-yard freestyle relay (4:28.18) in the preliminaries.

 

RIC freshman Jianna Hodge (North Providence, RI) and sophomore Courtney Payne (Waterford, CT) also competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:28.18) that notched a 21st place finish in the preliminaries.
