GEORGES & GALLAGHER FINISHE FIFTH AS RIC WRESTLING PLACES 10TH AT
DOUG PARKER INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.--The Rhode Island College wrestling team had a 10th place finish (16 teams) with 54.0 points at the 2016 Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday. Springfield took home the team title with 195.5 points.

 

Senior John Gorges (Cranston, RI) notched a fifth place finish at 285 lbs., going 5-2 at the tournament. Gorges recorded three pins pin before wrapping up the day with a 10-6 win over Southern Maine’s Mike Risti in the fifth/sixth place match.

Junior Michael Gallagher (Narragansett, RI) also had a fifth place effort for the Anchormen at 184 lbs., posting a 4-2 mark with a pair of pins . Gallagher had an 8-1 win against Springfield’s Severianel Burgos in the fifth/sixth place match.

 

Sophomore Zachary Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) notched a 3-2 record at 157 lbs. to pick up 6.5 team points for RIC, while freshman Michael Scaravilli (Lodi, NJ) had a 3-2 mark at 141 lbs. to take 2.5 points for the Anchormen on the day.
