REILLY & ZANGARI SWEEP WEEKLY LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS AWARDS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College senior Dayna Reilly (Swansea, MA) and freshman Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in women’s tennis in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen.

 

Reilly was named the Little East Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the sixth time in her career. She went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles as RIC downed Lesley, 9-0, on Sept. 1 and Salve Regina, 9-0, on Sept. 2. She did not lose a game (6-0, 6-0; 8-0) vs. the Lynx. She is currently 2-0 (1.000) at No. 1 singles and 2-0 (1.000) at No. 1 doubles on the season.

Zangari was named the Little East Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week. She went 2-0 at both No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles in the Anchorwomen’s victories. Zangari lost just one game (6-1, 6-0; 8-0) in the win over Lesley. She is currently 2-0 (1.000) at No. 1 singles and 2-0 (1.000) at No. 3 doubles on the season.

In upcoming action, Head Coach Adam Spring’s team will host Suffolk on Tuesday, Sept. 5 (4 p.m.).
