ANCHORWOMEN DEFEAT CURRY, 3-1

Milton, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team posted a, 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19), victory at Curry on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) once again registered a double-double for RIC with 11 kills and 13 digs.

• Sophomore middle blocker Jessica Brielmaier (West Greenwich, RI) posted 13 kills with a team-best two blocks for the Anchorwomen.

• RIC junior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) notched a match-high 14 kills and added 13 digs for a double-double.

• RIC senior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) tallied 31 set assists in the victory.

• Curry was led by senior middle blocker Nicole Rice (Woburn, MA) with 10 kills, while senior libero Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, MA) notched a match-high 18 digs in the setback.

• Curry sophomore setter Monica Wilkes (Franklin Lakes, NJ) had 31 set assists in the loss for the hosts.

 

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC registered a .169 (44 kills, 23 errors, 144 attempts) hitting percentage, while Curry hit .107 (25 kills, 15 errors, 112 attempts) in the win.

• The Anchorwomen had 19 five service aces and held a 61-52 advantage in digs for the contest.

 

WHO'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Salve Regina (11 a.m.) and Framingham State (3 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 9.
