DAYNA REILLY & GRACE ZANGARI EARN WEEKLY
LITTLE EAST WOMENíS TENNIS AWARDS

Providence, R.I.- Rhode Island College senior Dayna Reilly (Swansea, MA) and freshman Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in the womenís tennis teamís perfect 3-0 week.

 

RIC defeated Curry, 9-0, on Sept. 25 and Wentworth, 9-0, on Sept. 26. The Anchorwomen wrapped up the week with an 8-1 win at Western Connecticut on Sept. 30 to remain undefeated with a perfect 10-0 overall record and 4-0 Little East mark on the year.

 

Reilly was named the Little East Womenís Tennis Player of the Week for the seventh time in her career and the second time this season. She went a perfect 3-0 at No. 1 singles and was 2-1 at No. 1 doubles. She posted a (6-0, 6-0) win against Curry, a perfect (6-0, 6-0) win against Wentworth and a (6-0, 6-1) victory over Western Connecticut. At the No. 1 doubles spot, Reilly defeated Curry, 8-2, and Wentworth, 8-1. She is currently 10-0 (1.000) at No. 1 singles and 9-1 (.900) at No. 1 doubles on the season.

 

 

 

Zangari was named the Little East Womenís Tennis Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. She went 3-0 at No. 2 singles, 1-0 at No. 2 doubles and 2-0 at No. 3 doubles for the week. Zangari posted a perfect (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 2 singles and an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles against Curry. She followed that up with a (7-6, 6-1) win at No. 2 singles and a perfect (8-0) win at No. 3 doubles against Wentworth. She wrapped up the week with a (6-0, 6-3) win at No. 3 singles and an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles against Western Connecticut. Zangari is currently 10-0 (1.000) at No. 2 singles and 10-0 (1.000) at No. 2/No. 3 doubles on the season.

 

 

 

In upcoming action, Head Coach Adam Springís team will host UMass Dartmouth in a key Little East Conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 3 (3:30 p.m.).
