RIC ATHLETIC HOFER CATHY LANNI ’88
INDUCTED INTO THE R.I.I.L. HALL OF FAME

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Famer Cathy Lanni ’88 was inducted into the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s (R.I.I.L) Hall of Fame at a gala celebration held at the Crown Plaza in Warwick on Wednesday evening.

 

 

 

An All-State player, as well as a McDonald’s High School All-American honorable mention selection in 1983 while at North Providence High School, Lanni is considered one of the best girls’ basketball players ever to play for the Cougars. She scored more than 1,000 points during her career and helped guide the Cougars to the Class B championship during the 1992-93 season.

 

 

 

She was an All-American forward on RIC’s women’s basketball team from 1983-88. Lanni is RIC’s all-time leading scorer with 1,677 points. She also holds the school record for the most career rebounds at 1,101. Lanni is one of only two RIC players to ever total over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. Lanni was a member of RIC’s ECAC Division III Championship team during the 1985-86 season.
