CURRAN LEADS WOMEN'S SWIMMING AT
LOUISE GOODRUM INVITATIONAL

Dartmouth, Mass.--Senior Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished in the top-15 in six events to lead the Rhode Island College women's swimming team at the 2017 Louise Goodrum Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.

 

THE BASICS
There was no team scoring for the meet that featured 31 events and team from throughout New England.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Curran finished sixth in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.07), ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.99), ninth in the 100-yard IM (1:11.60), 13th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.91), 13th in the 50-yard backstroke (33.36) and 15th in the 50-yard butterfly (31.94). She also swam the second leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:17.53) that notched a 14th place finish.

Junior Courtney Payne (Waterford, CT) notched a 13th place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke and registered a 19th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:36.39), was 35th in both the 50-yard freestyle (32.19) and the 100-yard IM (1:23.76). Payne also had the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:17.53) that finished in 14th place.

Freshman Makeila Robles (Willimantic, CT) finished in 25th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:47.67), was in 34th place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:16.63) and was 37th in the 100-yard IM (1:32.72). Robles also swam the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:17.53) that finished in 14th place.

Senior Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) recorded a 23rd place in the 100-yard butterfly (1:24.96), was 22nd in the 100-yard backstroke (1:18.01) and finished in 32nd place in the 100-yard IM (1:20.09). She also had the lead leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:17.53) that finished in 14th place.

Sophomore Vanessa Dao (Revere, MA) recorded a 15th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (7:10.05) and a 16th place finish in the mixed 1,650-yard freestyle (24:00.18) and was in 24th place in the 50-yard freestyle (29:58). Dao swam the third leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:23.65) that finished in 17th place.

Junior Madison Lane (Barrington, RI) notched a 13th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:51.82) and finished in 15th place in the mixed 1,650-yard freestyle (23:42.25). She also recorded a 33rd place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (31.91). Lane swam the lead leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:23.65) that finished in 17th place.

Freshman Alexis Lewis (North Kingstown, RI) finished in 17th place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.17) and was in 20th place in the 500-yard freestyle (8:57.46). Lewis swam the second leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:23.65) that finished in 17th place. 

Sophomore Jianna Hodge (North Providence, RI) finished 40th in the 50-yard butterfly (56.26) and 50th in the 50-yard freestyle (36.98) for the Anchorwomen. Hodge swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:23.65) that finished in 17th place.

 

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Eastern Connecticut at Bryant University on Saturday, Nov. 11 (1 p.m.).
