ANCHORMEN DEFEAT NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE, 35-15

Henniker, N.H.-The Rhode Island College wrestling team posted a 35-15 victory at New England College on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

RIC opened the dual with a 20-5 technical fall victory by freshman Brandon Nunez (Rockaway, NY) at 125 lbs. for an early fivepoint lead.

RIC junior Daniel Murray (Bay Shore, NY) then put the Anchormen up, 8-0, after a 10-8 sudden-victory win at 133 lbs. The Anchormen picked up their first pin of the day by freshman Steven Szilagyi (Levittown, NY) at 149 lbs. to open up a 14-6 lead in the team score.

The Anchormen then won four of the last six matches, picking up a pins by freshman Nicholas Gould (North Attleboro, MA) at 165 lbs., junior Tim Caplan (Portland, CT) at 184 lbs. and freshman Nick Coppola (Wantagh, NY) at 197 lbs. en route to the 35-15 victory.
