RIC WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT
NEW ENGLAND OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Boston, Mass.-Freshman Shayna Cousineau (Cranston, RI) placed ninth in the 5,000m (19:15.36) as the Rhode Island College women's indoor track & field team competed at the 2018 New England Open (NEICAAA) Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday evening.

 

THE BASICS
• The event featured some of the top talent in the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks in New England and the Anchorwomen did not advance any student-athletes to the finals on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Senior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) placed 24th in the weight throw (14.15m).

 

• Junior Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) finished in 20th place in the 500m (1:21.33).

 

• Freshman Rachel Meus (Providence, RI) competed in the high jump and freshman Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) competed in the weight throw, however neither student-athlete placed for the Anchorwomen.

 

WHAT’S NEXT

• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host the N.E. Alliance Championship at the Providence Career & Training Academy (PCTA) on Saturday, Feb. 10 (10 a.m.).
