Dr. Anne Carty Named Rhode Island College’s
NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College named Anne Carty, D.N.Sc., R.N. as the College’s new NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. Dr. Carty will replace former RIC representative Daniel Snowman.

RIC Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation Donald E. Tencher says, "I am extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Carty into our Rhode Island College Athletic Family and I look forward to working with her as we continue our journey towards making the Rhode Island College athletic program one of the best in New England."

The Faculty Athletics Representative position is an appointment mandated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for each institution’s CEO to appoint.

Dr. Carty, who resides in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, will act as a liaison between the NCAA, the Little East Conference and the College. Dr. Carty has been a member of the College’s staff since 1973 when she joined the Nursing Department as an instructor. She was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 1975, an Associate Professor in 1992 and as a Professor in 1995. Additionally, she has served as the Director of the Nursing Resource Lab since 1995.

Dr. Carty was born in Baltimore, but has lived in Rhode Island since the age of three. She received a bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina University in 1971, her master’s degree in medical/surgical nursing from Boston College in 1973 and her doctorate from Boston University in 1982.

She has been extremely active on the RIC Campus by serving on a multitude of committees. She has also been very involved in countless professional organizations. Despite her extremely busy professional life, Dr. Carty is also involved in a number of community service activities. From 1998-2000, Dr. Carty served on the College’s Athletic, Intramural and Recreation Policy Committee.
