NAADD To Recognize Woonsocketís Paul Bourget

The National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) has named Rhode Island College alumnus Paul Bourget í69 as the College Division Volunteer of the Year. Bourget received the award at the 2002 NAADD Awards Luncheon in Dallas on June 16.

Bourget has a special place in his heart when it comes to Rhode Island College. Since his freshman year in 1965, his affiliation with the College has grown stronger every year.

When it comes to RIC athletics, Bourget is without a doubt, its most important contributor. He began giving to the athletic program in 1997 and was the very first member of the Rhode Island College athletic booster club: The Anchor Club, which now has over 300 members.

He has helped sponsor the very first Anchor Club Golf Day, now an annual event, and contributes to RICís teams during their fundraisers. "If a student comes to me asking for an ad to help, they leave with a check," Bourget proudly states.

Bourget hasnít confined his generosity to only RIC Athletics. He is a Corporate Sponsor of the Alumni Golf Tournament, has sponsored the Rhode Island College Foundationís Golf Day and annual gala to support honors scholarships, the fine and performing arts, and perhaps most importantly, has established permanent endowment to support scholarships for future students.

He was named Rhode Island Collegeís Alumnus of the Year in 1999. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Capital Campaign and Chair of the Steering Committee, while also serving at the Foundation's Treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee. Bourget served on the Alumni Associationís Board of Directors from 1996-00, serving as its President in 1998-99 and 1999-00. He was Honorary Chair of the Alumni Fund from 1997-99. Bourget also serves as Treasurer of the Rhode Island College Foundation.

Bourget is on the Advisory Group for the Collegeís School of Management and Technology.

He currently owns Bourget & Associates, Inc., a financial consulting firm he started in 1993. He remains active in his hometown of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, serving as President of the St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center.

Bourget earned a bachelorís degree in biology from Rhode Island College in 1969. He currently resides in Woonsocket, Rhode Island with his wife Denise. They are the proud parents of four children.
