2003 Rhode Island College
Menís Tennis Season Summary

(2-11 Overall; 0-3 in the Little East Conference)

 

Head Coach Kelly Langeís Anchormen finished the season with a fourth place (four teams) finish at the 2003 Little East Conference Championships, hosted by RIC on May 2-3. Southern Maine took home the title with 12.50 points. RIC posted a 2-11 overall record and was 0-3 (fourth place) in the Little East during the regular season.

 

Junior co-captain Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) was 7-7 (.500) in singles and 2-9 (.182) in doubles for 8.0 points on the season. Andrade fell in the first round of both the number four singles and number one doubles flights at the LEC Championships.

 

Junior Sean McClelland (Pawtucket, RI) was 0-1 (.000) in singles and 2-12 (.143) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season. McClelland fell in the first round of the number two doubles flight at the LEC Championships.

 

Junior Marc Pasonelli (Cranston, RI) was 1-10 (.091) in singles and 1-7 (.125) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season. Pasonelli fell in the first round of both the number three singles and number one doubles flights at the LEC Championships.

 

Junior Ben Powell (Elk River, MN) was 1-9 (.100) in singles and 0-4 (.000) in doubles for 1.0 points on the season. Powell fell in the first round of the number two singles flight at LEC Championships.

 

Sophomore Dan Amaral (Warren, RI) was 0-8 (.000) in singles and 0-8 (.000) in doubles for 0.0 points on the season. Amaral fell in the first round of the number six singles flight at the LEC Championships.

 

Sophomore Alex Fajardo (Providence, RI) was 1-3 (.250) in singles and 0-2 (.000) doubles for 1.0 points on the season.

 

Sophomore Andre LaBonte (Harrisville, RI) was 2-10 (.167) in singles and 1-8 (.111) in doubles for 2.5 points on the season. LaBonte fell in the first round of both the number five singles and number three doubles flights at the LEC Championships.

 

Sophomore Adam Pierpaoli (Smithfield, RI) was 2-13 (.133) in singles and 2-10 (.167) in doubles for 3.0 points on the season. Pierpaoli fell in the first round of both the number one singles and number two doubles flights at the LEC Championships.

 

Sophomore Robert Ray (Cranston, RI) was 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

 

Sophomore co-captain Tim Smith (Jamestown, RI) was 2-4 (.333) in singles and 0-3 (.000) in doubles for 2.0 points on the season. Smith was unable to compete at the LEC Championships due to illness.

 

Freshman Chris Furey (Cabot, VT) was 1-0 (1.000) in singles and 0-4 (.000) in doubles for 1.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Jason LaDuke (Warren, RI) was 1-4 (.200) in singles and 1-11 (.083) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season. LaDuke fell in the first round of the number three doubles flights at the LEC Championships.
