RIC Mourns the Loss of Victoria Demers
A Message From RIC President Frank D. Sanchez

On behalf of Rhode Island College, President Frank D. Sanchez extends his deepest condolences to the Demers family and friends on the passing of Victoria. The death of a student affects the entire college community and as with any loss reminds us about how precious life can be. Tragedy also reminds us of the importance of reaching out to one another to offer support. Students, teammates, faculty and staff seeking support should contact the Rhode Island College Counseling Center at 401-456-8094. The college sends its greatest sympathy to all those affected by Victoria’s passing.

A Message From Athletic Director Don Tencher

I am deeply saddened at the loss of women’s basketball student-athlete Victoria Demers. Victoria was a force to be reckoned with both on and off the court. She had an infectious personality that affected everyone in a very positive manner and her freshman season exhibited just a glimpse of the positive things to come on the court. Our RIC Athletic Family has suffered an incredible loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to Victoria’s family as well as her teammates. "
