Rhode Island College is proud to have provided over 154
years of educational opportunity and academic excellence to the citizens
of our state, and to those students whom we serve from outside of Rhode
Island. As Rhode Island’s first public state institution of higher
education, Rhode Island College has a long and strong tradition of
preparing people of all ages to enjoy a well-rounded and healthy
lifestyle.
Facilities
The instruction and competition for campers will be
held within some of the finest collegiate athletic facilities in the
Northeast. The college’s competitive athletic facility, The Murray
Center, is complete with basketball and volleyball courts. It is also
home to an Olympic level gymnastic area, a state-of-the-art weight
facility and one of the largest free-floating wood floors in the
country. Additionally, the intramural/recreation complex, complete with
L-shaped swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts and indoor
track, is large enough to accommodate many people in the event of
inclement weather. The outdoor venues include soccer, baseball and
softball complexes as well as a quarter of a mile all-weather track.
Activity Program
New for this year, our instructional program day will
operate from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The daily program will be filled
with instruction provided by some of the state’s best coaches. The
instruction will be combined with positive application through a series
of competitive events
Staff
Sport instruction and supervision will be provided by
some of the area’s finest collegiate and scholastic coaches. These
outstanding coaches will be supported by the college’s student-athletes.
In addition, guest speakers from all levels of the coaching ranks will
compliment the daily instruction. For those campers participating in
swimming, the pool will be staffed by aquatic professionals all
certified by the State of Rhode Island.
Extended Day Program
An extended day program will be available for those
campers wishing to stay beyond the instructional program day and will
include a lunch period, swimming, and other sports related activities.
Dismissal from the extended day program will be at 4 p.m.
