Callaghan to Captain
Rhode Island College Women’s Volleyball


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College senior Stephanie Callaghan (Warwick, RI) will captain the women’s volleyball team for the 2002 season.


Callaghan has played in three games in one match for the Anchorwomen. As a junior in 2001, she played in 112 games in 31 matches. She had 163 kills (1.455/game), a .200 hitting percentage, 20 assists (0.179/game), 25 service aces (0.223/game), 221 digs (1.973/game) and 13 blocks (0.116/game). Callaghan was second on the team in digs and third in kills. Callaghan was fourth on the team in hitting percentage and fifth in service aces.


She is an elementary education major and a 1999 graduate of Pilgrim High School.


The Anchorwomen are currently 0-1, having lost their season-opener to Johnson & Wales University 3-0 on Sept. 10. In upcoming action, RIC will take part in the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14.
