Malissa Holden Named Second Team
All-Little East Conference in Womenís Soccer


Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior back Malissa Holden (Warwick, RI) was named Second Team All-Little East for her performance in womenís soccer this season. Holden was a Second Team All-LEC selection a sophomore in 2001 as well.


Holden played in 18 games, starting all of them this fall. She had three goals for six points on the season. Holden scored both goals, including the double-overtime winner, in RICís 2-1 LEC Tournament victory over Plymouth State on Nov. 5.


She is a physical education major and a 2000 graduate of Toll Gate High School.


First-year Head Coach Ryan Angelís team finished the season with a 7-10-2 overall record and a 2-3-2 (fifth place) mark in the Little East Conference.


Rhode Island College recorded its first-ever post-season win with a 2-1 victory over Plymouth State in the opening round of the Little East Tournament on Nov. 5. RIC was 0-9-1 all-time vs. the Panthers prior to the win. RIC, the fifth seed in the tourney, fell to number one seed Keene State, 3-1, in the semi-finals on Nov. 7 to end its season.


The Anchorwomen held their opposition to 24 goals in 19 games, the fewest allowed by a RIC team in the programís eight-year history.
