RIC's Kristyn Alexander Named
Second Team All-New England


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman designated player Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) was named Second Team All-New England by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Alexander was the Little East Conference Softball Rookie of the Year and earned First Team All-Little East Conference honors as a designated player as well this season.


Alexander played in 37 games, starting all of them. She batted .345 with a team-high 41 hits, five doubles and 20 RBI. Alexander also had eight walks, 12 runs scored, a .387 slugging percentage, a .380 on-base percentage and a .962 fielding percentage.


RIC finished the 2004 season with a 21-15-1 overall record and a 9-5 (second place) mark in the Little East Conference. Head Coach Maria Morinís team saw their season come to an end with a 3-2 loss at Coast Guard in the opening round of the 2004 ECAC tournament. It was the fourth time in six seasons the Anchorwomen qualified for post-season action. The softball program recorded its sixth consecutive 20-win campaign and tied its highest regular season conference finish (second). The Anchorwomen also achieved another milestone this spring, earning a #1 ranking in New England for two consecutive weeks (April).
