Mike Bonora Named Pilgrim Wrestling League Rookie of the Week


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman wrestler Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) was named the Pilgrim Wrestling League’s Rookie of the Week for his performance at the RWU Invitational on Nov. 15.


Bonora, who is currently ranked second in New England at 141 lbs., placed second at the Roger Williams University Tournament on Nov. 15, upsetting a 2001 All-American, Trinity College’s Mark Foresi, in his first collegiate match. For the season, Bonora is 4-1 at 141 lbs. with 13 points, 12 takedowns, six reversals, seven escapes and five near-falls.


He is a 2003 graduate of Nutley High School.


Head Coach Jay Jones’ Anchormen are 0-0 overall, 0-0 in the NECCWA and 0-0 in the Pilgrim League. RIC has participated in two tournaments this season. The Anchormen placed third at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 15 and eighth at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 22. In upcoming action, RIC will travel to the Rochester, NY for the R.I.T. Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6.
