Justin Deveau Named Pilgrim League
Wrestler of the Week

 Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior Justin Deveau (North Attleboro, MA) was named the Pilgrim League’s Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the R.I.T. Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6. He placed third, went 4-1 and lost a close match in the semi-finals at the invitational.


Deveau is 13-2 at 285 lbs. with 59 points, 19 takedowns, four reversals, nine escapes, four near-falls and four pins on the season. He placed third at the RIT Invitational, third at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 22 and first at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 15. Deveau is currently ranked first in New England at 285 lbs.


He is a marketing major and a 2001 graduate of North Attleboro High School.


Head Coach Jay Jones’ team is 0-0 overall, 0-0 in the NECCWA and 0-0 in the Pilgrim League. RIC has participated in three tournaments this season, most recently placing tenth at the RIT Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6, where the Anchormen battled sixth nationally-ranked teams. The Anchormen also placed third at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 15 and eighth at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 22.


The Anchormen are currently ranked tenth among all Div. I, II and III teams in New England and are sixth among Div. III teams. RIC will host its first home match of the season on Thursday, Dec. 11 versus NECCWA foe Plymouth State at 5 p.m.
