Named Wrestler of the Month

 Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior Justin Deveau (North Attleboro, MA) was named the Wrestler of the Month by the New England Intercollegiate Wrestling News for his performance during the month of December.


Deveau, who is currently ranked second in New England at 285 lbs., took first place at the Citrus Invitational on Dec. 29, beating two nationally ranked grapplers in the process.


He is 24-2 at 285 lbs. with 101 points, 32 takedowns, seven reversals, 17 escapes, ten near-falls and four pins. Deveau has a 13-match winning streak. He went 3-0 at the NYU quad-meet on Dec. 10. He placed first at the Citrus Invitational on Dec. 29, third at the RIT Invitational on Dec. 6, third at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 22 and first at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 15.


Head Coach Jay Jonesí team is 7-4 overall, 2-1 in the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) and 0-0 in the Pilgrim League. In upcoming action, RIC will host NECCWA rival WPI on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
