Rhode Island Collegeís Justin Deveau
Named Pilgrim League Wrestler of the Week

 Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior Justin Deveau (North Attleboro, MA) was named the Wrestler of the Week by the Pilgrim Wrestling League. This is the second time this season Deveau has earned this honor.


Deveau, who is currently ranked number one in New England, posted a huge, 8-3, victory over Mike Blair from Trinity College at the New England Duals, hosted by Bridgewater State, on Jan. 25. Blair is ranked second in the country (Div. III) at 285 lbs. His win helped RIC defeat Trinity, 17-16, and finish fourth at the meet.


Deveau is 27-2 at 285 lbs. with 113 points, 35 takedowns, seven reversals, 19 escapes, ten near-falls and four pins. Deveau has a 16-match winning streak. He went 2-0 at the New England Duals on Jan. 25. Deveau placed first at the Citrus Invitational on Dec. 29, third at the RIT Invitational on Dec. 6, third at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 22 and first at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 15.


Head Coach Jay Jonesí team is 9-7 overall, 4-4 in the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) and 0-0 in the Pilgrim League. The Anchormen are currently ranked fourth in New England.
