Named Little East Conference
Menís Basketball Co-Player of the Week

 Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior guard Kamran Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) was named the Little East Conference's Co-Player of the Week for his performance in men's basketball. Alemdar shares this week's honor with Plymouth State's Nick Pelotte.


Senior guard Kamran Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in 23 games, starting 22 of them. He is averaging a team-high 14.2 points, while also contributing 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Alemdar poured in a season-high 25 points, along with seven rebounds and four assists in the victory over UMass-Dartmouth. In his two games last week, Alemdar averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per contest. He now has scored in double figures in 17 of his 23 games. For his efforts last week, he was named the Little East Conference's Co-Player of the Week.


He is a communications major and a 1999 graduate of Vasalunds Gymnasiet.


Head Coach Michael Kellyís team is 11-12 overall and 6-5 in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen went undefeated in their two LEC contests last week, both in The Murray Center, defeating UMass-Dartmouth, 75-61, on Feb. 11 and Southern Maine, 77-61, on Feb. 14. RIC has now won five consecutive home conference contests for the first time in school history.


In upcoming action, RIC will travel for two LEC games this week. First, the Anchormen take on Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m., then nationally-ranked Keene State on Saturday, Feb 21 at 3 p.m.
