Kari Geisler Earns
Little East Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Conference Honors

 Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman center Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) was named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year and was also named Second Team All-Little East Conference for her performance this winter.


On the season, Geisler has played in 22 games, starting 14 of them. She leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. In ten conference games, Geisler averaged a double-double, 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest. Geisler finished the season second in the league in rebounding and fifth in scoring. Despite missing five games with a leg injury, she returned to score in double-figures five of the remaining eight games of the season, including two double-doubles. For the season, Geisler scored in double-figures 14 times, including three 20-plus games and eight double-doubles.


Geisler is a physical education major with a minor in Spanish and a 2003 graduate of Pinkerton Academy.


Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team is 16-11 and finished the conference season with a 7-7 LEC record, which was good for third. The third-place finish was the highest in the conference since 1997-98. The Anchorwomen are now looking for a bid to the ECAC Tournament.
